Biography

Tom Achtymichuk helps individuals and organizations solve their legal issues in a number of areas.  He assists clients with business transactions, such as buying and selling businesses and assets.  He helps businesses and not for profit organizations deal with legal issues arising from their governance and operations.  Throughout his career, he has helped clients resolve legal disputes related to employment law, negligence and product liability claims, and business and commercial issues.  Although Tom has received training as a mediator, he has also appeared in all of the Alberta Courts for trials and appeals in cases requiring the court process.

Tom is actively involved in the legal profession.  He is on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Bar Insurance Association and of the Legal Education Society of Alberta.  He is the Chair of the National Legislation and Law Reform Committee of the Canadian Bar Association.  Tom is a Past-President of the Canadian Bar Association in Alberta, and has been involved in that organization in many capacities.  He has taught courses to articling law students for many years.  Over his career, he has been involved in a number of other committees and programs at the University of Alberta and within the Alberta legal profession.
